[ last changed 2026-08-02 ] I needed a way for someone in another room to alert me to when they need assistance or information. But much of the time I’m wearing headphones so I can’t hear them call. The solution appeared to be to use a wireless doorbell inside. But it needed to have a visual-alert-only option.
I first tried the following product. Very simple to set up and inexpensive.; < $30 for two receivers and simple button. 23 AAA in each receiver, 2032 coin battery in sender. Cool color options for the flash.
Bought on Amazon 12/2024 for about $45. “FUHONGRUI” brand
Pretty neat, yes? But unless I’m looking directly at the receivers, I can’t see the visual alert.
So with more research I discovered a high power version where the visual alert is a strobe:
The vendor is Safeguard Supply and let me also add it was a great pleasure to call them directly and talk to a friendly knowledgeable human being. I’m not sure if their products are available on the huge web merchants, but I will always call them directly for anything I need.

Just a minor update a year later: I needed another chime/strobe unit for a different room. I just went back to Safeguard’s site (also at 1-800-DOORBELL.com) and ordered the same unit. It works perfectly with the original sender, and I can set it to a lower volume than the “primary” strobe.
